I am 60 yrs old, I am getting calls from a collection agy, to pay school loans from 1984-88. I am disabled. ?

can my SSI be garnished? They want me to allow auto-pay to make payments. It is not on my credit check. I live with a friend, and have nothing else. What can I do?
