How to get started with my online business idea?

Can I get a copyright on my idea for a website? How should I get started? Should I contact the ideal companies to be advertised before I create the site or should I go ahead and create the site then contact them and see if they want to advertise on my site? Any other suggestions that might be useful to me would be more than appreciated!
